When you get home, you’re greeted by a wagging tail and an excited dog. It’s the routine and it never changes. What does change is the speed of that excited tail wag and the sparkle in your dog’s eyes. You know this ritual has been happening for years but when you bend down to give him all the lovin’ there’s more grey in his eyes than you remember and more accidents to clean up when you get home. Barking at “ghosts” was cute at first but now it’s at all hours of the night and accompanied by pacing. Yes, dogs age but this isn’t just old dog behavior. These symptoms are often caused by doggie dementia, meaning there’s a decline in cognitive function. There is help though! There’s been a lot of research on how to reverse or slow CCD or doggie dementia (which benefits both people and dogs! ). There has been promising results, showing the positive effects when the brain is nourished with nutraceuticals (nutrients like DHA, branch-chain amino acids, ALA and ginkgo) that may help to reverse or slow cognitive dysfunction, commonly referred to as dementia. With these findings, Dr. Bessent set out to create a revolutionary new supplement that implemented many of the findings from this research to keep your senior dog healthy in body and mind. Meant to support cognitive function and overall long-term health, the ingredients in Senior Dog Wisdom provide the building blocks needed for healthy aging. The best dog vitamins don’t just address the physical health of an aging animal but brain health as well. Nourish his brain today because you have many more trips home where he’ll be waiting to greet you.
MANAGE DOGGY DEMENTIA - You know the day-to-day struggles a pet with dementia has - accidents in the house, restlessness at night, getting stuck in corners. These symptoms can be helped. Senior Dog Wisdom can provide the building blocks to support healthy aging, so you can help your dog live their best life, longer.
ADVANCED NUTRACEUTICAL FORMULA - This veterinarian-developed formula helps to maintain mental well-being by supporting and maintaining proper cognitive function using phytonutrients. Senior Dog Wisdom contains ingredients like L-Carnitine, Alpha Lipoid Acid, Branched Chain Amino Acid, Ginkgo Balboa and DHA, which are known to support a healthy brain.
EASE CONFUSION - If your dog gets stuck in corners or stares off into space, it’s because he’s disorientated. Disorientation is a sign of doggie dementia, meaning there are progressive neurological changes to the brain. Senior Dog Wisdom nourishes the brain, combatting symptoms like confusion, and promotes overall brain health for dogs, which means you get more of your old, happy, go-lucky dog back.
GET WAKE/SLEEP CYCLES BACK TO NORMAL - Your old gal sleeps more often, which is normal for any senior dog, but she doesn’t sleep at night. She’s restless so she paces, howling at ghosts or the wind or some other imaginary disturbance. Doggie dementia disrupts your dog’s wake and sleep patterns (and yours too) but Senior Dog Wisdom gives her the nutrients that help support a healthy, aging brain so you can both get back to your routines.
NATURAL ALTERNATIVE WITH LONG-TERM RESULTS - The ingredients in Senior Dog Wisdom build up in your pet’s system as they continue to use it, providing continuous support as weeks turn to months. The longer Senior Dog Wisdom is used the more effective it becomes – gently returning your senior dog to the puppy that you know and love so dearly.
VETERINARIAN RECOMMENDED - Enlightening research on aging inspired Dr. Besant to create a nutrient-rich blend that helps support a healthy, aging brain in pets. Nourishing the brain has shown positive results for doggie dementia prompting many other holistic veterinarians to carry cognitive supplements for senior dogs. Their choice is more often than not Senior Dog Wisdom.
MADE IN THE USA - This supplement was developed by holistic veterinarian, Dr. Chris Besant, who owns and operates Herb smith's two facilities in Wisconsin. It’s quality you can trust from a veterinarian with over 30 years of experience.
BE PROACTIVE ABOUT BRAIN HEALTH - Senior Dog Wisdom is perfect for all senior dogs. The definition of senior dog varies by the size of the dog though which is why we recommend giving it to an aging dog in the last third of their life. Large dogs, like Great Danes should start at 4-5 years old. Medium dogs, like Australian Shepherds should begin between 7-9 years old and small dogs like Chihuahuas should start taking Senior Dog Wisdom between 10 and 12 years of age.
I've been using the Herbsmith Senior Dog Wisdom supplements for about 4 months now, and I can honestly say that it has made all the difference and ultimately prevented me from making a very difficult decision and saying goodbye to my little man who is blind but otherwise (physically) healthy. He's getting on in years - just turned 15 in April 2023 - and unfortunately, his cognition had really started to decline over the last year or so. He is completely blind, seeing only light and shadow, so I chalked some things up to that initially - simple things like sometimes not being able to find the door or water bowl - but it progressed to him getting stuck in corners and behind furniture, apparently forgetting basic cues he's known since he was 8 weeks old like "sit" and "wait." Impulse control went completely out the window and this previously calm, confident, and independent little 15 pound dog who NEVER wanted to be picked up suddenly became a drooling mess of anxiety who would beg and beg to be carried everywhere or else he would hide in his crate (when he could find it.) He started whining when he thought it might be meal time (any time he heard a bag rustle, or someone grab a glass or bowl out of the cabinet) and he would NOT stop that whining until actual dinner time came, no matter what. It became obvious that he was genuinely suffering and I started to question his quality of life.I have been in the dog behavior and veterinary fields for about 20 years now, and I know that side effects of treatments usually offered to dogs with canine cognitive dysfunction can be less than lovely, and the medications are often pretty expensive, so I started doing research on alternative treatments. This supplement came out on top in terms of ingredients and it really can't be beat at this price.I noticed a BIG difference in his behavior within a few days. He wasn't getting stuck as much. He was more aware of his surroundings. He acknowledged me when I called him and was able to respond to long-known cues in a reasonable timeframe. After about a week, he was no longer demanding to be held and carried everywhere all the time, and he was beginning to play with toys again, initiate play with me and even with his doggy siblings - something he hadn't really done since completely losing his vision a few years ago. When I ran low and didn't reorder in time to prevent him from going without for a few days, there was a VERY marked difference in his behavior and he'd backslid to being a nervous wreck who couldn't find the doorway in about 3 days. After getting another batch, it took about 3 days for him to improve again, and I vowed to never ever run out again.I have used both the chews and the powder, and I will say that it seems like the powder is more effective, but the chews are obviously much more convenient. I keep a tub of both on hand because he eats at least half of his meals out of Kongs and other food toys, and he gets a softchew with those meals. I mix the powder into the remainder of his meals.I have not been paid or received any sort of compensation for this review and I paid full price for every tub I've used, I really just can't believe the difference in him on vs off of this supplement and if our story can help someone else hang out with their senior pup for a few more golden years, that's all that matters. For me personally, unless this suddenly stops being beneficial to him, I will keep him on it for the rest of his life.I really want to stress that this isn't an "anxiety" supplement, since I read several reviews giving this a poor rating because it didn't ease anxiety specifically. This is a supplement that helps with memory issues which may cause anxiety. There is a big difference! If your dog has anxiety that is not related to cognition and memory, then this will not help your dog; it is not an anxiolytic.
